Characters are the emotional core of any story. In Archetype, AI characters are not disposable chat sessions but persistent entities that remember biographical details, relationships and key events across conversations.
When you create a new character, start from intent: what role should this character play in your world? Mentor, rival, comic relief, love interest? A clear narrative function helps the model generate consistent behaviour over time.
Next, define a small set of strong traits instead of a long generic list. Choose 2–4 adjectives that really matter for how this character speaks and reacts, then align tone, speech style and typical reactions with those traits.
Write a backstory that is short but concrete. Mention a few formative events, important relationships and the character's current goals. Avoid vague descriptions like "mysterious past" and prefer specific hooks the model can reuse in dialogue.
Finally, test your character in multiple scenes: calm conversation, conflict, and reflection. If the voice stays recognizable across all three situations, you know the definition inside Archetype is detailed enough.
